Hi experts,
Quick questions…
Environment team will migrate from ESX to HyperV our sql VM.
We have one staging box there. I asked it to be migrated cleanly and we would do a checkdb afterwards… But they refused to do it.
Questions:
1 1- I have read that is feasible to move a vm cleanly from esx to hyperV, how difficult is that? Why did they refuse?
2- 2- Given the case I have to migrate it myself manually (installing sql and moving the dbs), whats the best approach? Backuping up dbs and then restoring them after installing sql? Or detaching and moving the datafiles? (it is a small staging environment with the largest db being noly 5GB).
Ps: Vm is windows server 2008 r2 and sql is 2008 r2.
