Good morning,
I've had a quick look at the related topics and also through books online, but havent been able to find the answer I'm looking for.
We have a SQL 2005 SP4 database server and are looking to replace this with a brand new SQL 2012 database server. I'm trying to find the method of least resistance with regard to migration.
I've had a little bit of a mess around with trying to restore the master database from a backup, this, of course, didnt work. I was considering shutting the database down, and swapping the master datafiles around and seeing if that worked, tho i suspect that that will just cause me more difficulties.
Does anybody know the best way to migrate the databases across, or am I going to be best installing SQL 2005 on the new shiny server, restoring all DB's and then upgrading to SQL 2012 using the upgrade wizard?
Regards
Andy
