How to know if SQL 2008 DB is using 2008 features that are not in SQL 2005 ?

Hello is there a way to find out if a SQL 2008 DB is using new SQL 2008 features/settings that don't exist in SQL 2005 ?

And then the other way around if it's possible to get a list of all items in SQL 2005 that are deprecated/unsupported in SQL 2008 ?

Thanks in advance.

Migration of OpenEdge Progress tables to SQL*Server

Is there an automated way to copy a Progress 10.2a database to SQL*Server 2008R2? I'm thinking along the lines of the Migration Assistant (which doesn't support Progress).
I just want a very straightforward way of recreating the Progress table structure in SQL*Server and copying the data over with minimal effort.

I am interested to upgrade my sql-server 2005 deployment into 2008-r2 including with their OS services respectively from Windows-2003 to windows-2008-r2. These databases are being used from sharepoint based application and may be you know that "these databases are managing from MOSS and we can't perform any change".

Would you like to suggest any suitable action plan to accomplish this task + authentic link. Hopes you will support.

Migrating from Local SQL Server Express to Remote SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition

Hi guys.

I have an application that uses an instance of SQL Server Express (database) upon installation, but it is created locally where the application is installed.

The requirements for the application have changed and the application now needs to connect to a remote server that's hosting the SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition.

On the current application, we are using a separate file where the database connection string and parameters are located.

My question is this: What are the important things that I should consider when switching to from local database to a remote server database (i.e. on the connection string, security, detach attach database)?

Any help would truly be appreciated. Thanks!

Problems upgrading database from 2005 to 2008 R2

I have backed up my databases, uninstalled SQL Server 2005 and installed SQL Server 2008 R2.

Then restored databases into that.

Problem is compatibility level of the databases is still 2005, it won't let me change it to 100 either as a query or in the properties, the highest level available in properties is 90.

I see the server it's connected to is 9.0.5000 which is 2005, so maybe that's why but how on earth can I make the databases version 2008?

I want to do this to take advantage of the 10GB databases limit, as 2005 databases only have a 4GB limit.

Thanks.

I need to migrate a SS2000 database located on Win 2003R2 Sp2 to SS2008 on Win 2008R2. In order to utilize the UA tool, is it to be installed on the 2003, the 2008R2 machine or either?
