SSMA for Access gives Synchronization Error

Hi,

I'm using SSMA for Access (32-bit version on a 64-bit win 7 machine) to migrate few tables to SQL Server 2012. When I click on synchronize with Database, I'm getting a synchronization error with msg 'Error collecting data. See the inner exception for details'. There are further details about this error besides this message. I'm quite lost as to how do I further debug this.

How to use command to move machine from one Datastore to another Datastore in WTT Atlas(2.7)?

I have searched WTT Atlas help doc, just found this: "The MoveMachine command allows users to move client computers between machine pools. This command assumes the logon user has the correction permissions to perform the operations, and will result in an error if this is not the case. "

Note:This command just explain move machine between machine pools instead of between Datastore.

I am in the process of moving a table of data that stores uploaded files. Within this table, I have binary, image, and a computed column. There are a total of 1,410 records and I'm moving this data to a database on another server, using the 'Generate Scripts' method. While 1,299 of these records went in no problem, I am receiving the error above for the remaining records. ANSI_PADDING is disabled on the DB level but the the binary column within my table has 'ANSI Padding Status' set to TRUE. I've search all over and cannot find a solution to my problem. Any ideas?

Can SQL run temporally on a software mirror RAID?

I have a server running server 2008 R2 with SQL server 2008 R2. The server is installed on a 500GB stand-alone hard drive. I have a second hard drive, same size that I use for backing up the main drive.

The main drive is failing and I am trying to determine if I should virtualize the server or put it on another physical server. But, in the meantime, I want to make sure the drive doesn’t fail on me.

Can I and does SQL server support running on a Dynamic disk with software RAID 1? Like I said, it is temporary, but this server has a very important database which we cannot lose.

Thank you.

SSMA Oracle to SQL Server data migration step fails with no explanation

The conversion process worked fine and created the objects in SQL Server but when I try and migrate the data it doesn't work and gives no explanation why.  The output looks like this:

Migrating data...
Analyzing metadata...
Preparing table TIMECARD.TBLSTAFFID...
Preparing table TIMECARD.TBLTIMECARD...
Preparing table TIMECARD.TBLTIMECARDDETAIL...
Preparing data migration package...
Starting data migration Engine
Starting data migration...
Data migration operation has finished.
 0 table(s) successfully migrated.
 0 table(s) partially migrated.
 3 table(s) failed to migrate.

There are no errors on the error list tab.  The report looks like this:

Status    From-Table    To-Table    Total-Rows    Migrated-Rows    Success-Rate    Duration(DD:HH:MM:SS:MS)    Error-Messages
Initial "TIMECARD"."TBLSTAFFID"                                                     N/A
Initial "TIMECARD"."TBLTIMECARD"                                                 N/A
Initial "TIMECARD"."TBLTIMECARDDETAIL"                                       N/A

There is a red X for the status on each but when I select any row the details button remains greyed out.

Same result whether I use server side or client side migration.

Application slowness post migration

Hi All,

We have recently migrated our production box from stand alone set up to 2-node cluster mode(active/passive).

Post migration end users are complaining regarding the slow performance and this slow performance can't been seen when they are connected in LAN. Network connectivity is also fine through MPLS.

Coming to our cluster set up, we got 5 instances in server and except this instance remaining all other DB's are small in size and not resource hungry instance(we have checked the utilizations of all instances in resource monitor everything is normal)

Post migration we have done all the basic maintenance procedures like Rebuild, checkdb, update stas and all other properties were also same when compared with the old server)

Please find the below information and kindly suggest me the troubleshoot steps

Hi Gurus, is it possible to migrate entire Analysis Services server (with all databases) to another SQL instance. I only find documents talking about moving SSAS databases after googling. Is there any limitations when migrating to Upward or Downward version SQL?

Thanks in advance

Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) for Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) - Missing Drivers

$

We have a very old set of Sybase databases (version 11.9.2) that we’re planning to convert to SQL Server 2008. I’ve therefore downloaded the Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant for Sybase, but it is unable to find the Sybase drivers. Within the SSMA, when I attempt to connect to the Sybase server via ODBC, I get this message: “Unable to find specified provider. Sybase Data Access Connectivity libraries were not found on the machine. You can install them from Sybase product media or download it from Sybase web site”.

If I try to connect using OLEDB, I simply get “Cannot connect to data source”.

Trying to use ADO.Net gives me “Unable to find ADO.Net Provider files ‘Sybase.AdoNet2.AseClient.dll’ or ‘Sybase.Data.AseClient.dll’.You can install them from Sybase product media or download it from Sybase web site.

The problem is that I do have the full Sybase client tools installed (I have both Sybase Central and SQL Advantage), so I would have expected the connection to work. In addition, I use Visual Studio 2010 and am able to connect to Sybase easily using the System.Data.Common.DbProviderFactory classes.

I’ve tried looking on the Sybase website but can’t find any relevant drivers anywhere – they don’t seem to be specifically listed. Does anyone know exactly what I would need to download or install in order to get this working? I’m using an old XP machine (one of the reasons I’m keen on this conversion is so that we can fully move up to Windows 7/8).

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi All,

I get a below error after applied sp3 on SQL server 2008R2  and i able to start SQL server services with using /T902 ,with out this flag ,i am unable to connect management studio ....

Error:

Script level upgrade for database 'master' failed because upgrade step 'sqlagent100_msdb_upgrade.sql'
encountered error 515, state 2, severity 16. This is a serious error condition which might interfere with regular operation
and the database will be taken offline. If the error happened during upgrade of the 'master' database, it will prevent the
entire SQL Server instance from starting. Examine the previous errorlog entries for errors,
take the appropriate corrective actions and re-start the database so that the script upgrade steps run to completion.

Move SQL 2014 Server to a new machine

Hello,

I would like to move a complete SQL 2014 server from an older hardware to a new machine.

Backup and restore of databases is no problem, but there are a lot of users on the server, mainly in the master database.

Is there a script or how-to guide how to move also the master database?

I guess I do not have to move the tempdb .

thanks
